Alessandro Mazzucotelli ( Lodi, 30 September 1865 - Milan, January 29 1938) was a craftsman Italian . The famous Lombard
craftsman, a specialist in wrought iron , attached his name to the ironwork of the works of the greatest exponents of liberty, not only in Lombardy but also abroad.
Born in Lodi from a merchant family of iron original Imagna valley, soon moved to Milan, where he found work as an apprentice, with his brother Charles, in the smithy of Defendente Oriani in via Aldo Manutius, who later took over (1891 ; from 1902 to 1908 the company was named Mazzucotelli-Engelmann and later worked alone, in first and then to Ponchielli Bicocca).
With extraordinary skill and creativity, able to give the iron supple aspect and "flower" which was the dominant character of Liberty, it soon became a sought-after collaborator of renowned architects such as Giuseppe Sommaruga , Gaetano Moretti , Ernesto Pirovano , Franco Oliva, Ulysses Stacchini and Silvio Gambini .
distinguished himself at the first International Art Exhibition of Modern Decorative Torino of 1902, the year after a journey to different countries together to ' cabinetmaker Eugenio Quarter ; return, a task undertaken by all teachers' Humanitarian . Since 1922
directed the School of Applied Arts ISIA of Monza, where his pupil and successor to the chair of wrought iron Gino Manara ; was president of the International Biennial Exhibition of Applied Arts .
Among the exhibitions he attended later recall the 'Exposition Universelle et Internationale of Brussels ( 1910) and' Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes of Paris ( 1925).
Although his specialty has always been wrought iron, also worked on designs for jewelry Calderoni and textures of the fabrics of Brembate .
